Terms of Service & Fair Use Policy
Effective Date: July 29, 2026
These terms govern the hosted IoTSyn service. Separate licence notices govern public datasets, release bundles, reference code, and third-party material. Read the licensing and intellectual property map before reusing a published artifact.
1. Intellectual Property & Platform Ownership
The production web service, including non-published backend code, deployment configuration, credentials, databases, operations, security controls, user interface, and the IoTSyn brand, is the intellectual property of Dr. Amir Duhair and the IoTSyn Team.
You may not bypass access controls, extract private service code, copy private databases, or reproduce the hosted service by unauthorized access.
You may not use the "IoTSyn" trademark or logo for commercial purposes without explicit written permission.
These restrictions do not override permissions granted by a published open licence. Files in the v4.4.0-RC1 specification bundle remain available under the CC0 notice included with that bundle.
2. License for Generated Datasets (CC0 1.0 Universal)
Public synthetic datasets generated and exported through IoTSyn are dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0 Universal when their dataset page or accompanying metadata identifies them as CC0.
You are free to copy, modify, distribute, and perform work on the generated datasets, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission.
Scope: The dataset licence applies to the identified output and its stated generated metadata. Reference bundles, production code, website content, trademarks, and third-party files each retain their own stated status.
3. Reference Artifacts and Third-Party Material
Published reference artifacts
A public specification, reference implementation, test vector, or research package is governed by the licence included with that release. Its licence does not apply to the production service unless the production service is named in the grant.
Third-party material
Third-party datasets and source snapshots retain their original licences and attribution requirements. IoTSyn does not dedicate third-party rights to the public domain.
4. Fair Use & Server Resource Protection
To ensure the platform remains stable and accessible to all researchers globally, we enforce a Fair Use Policy regarding server computing resources:
Generation Limits
Generating datasets requires significant CPU and memory resources. The free public generator is limited to a maximum of 10,000 data points per generation.
Prohibited Activities
Automated scraping, the use of bots to bypass limits, or intentionally overwhelming the server (DDoS) is strictly prohibited and will result in an IP ban.
Need Larger Datasets?
If you require massive-scale datasets (millions of rows), please utilize our pre-generated benchmark datasets available at IoTDataset.com, or contact us for Enterprise/API access to cover computing costs.
5. Academic Citation
While the datasets are provided under CC0 (which does not legally require attribution), academic integrity strongly encourages citation.
If you use IoTSyn to generate data for your research, publications, or machine learning models, we kindly request that you cite our official technical paper to support our ongoing work.
Auto-generated citations in APA, MLA, Chicago, IEEE, BibTeX, and Harvard formats are available on every dataset page and on our citation page.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service and the generated datasets are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied. The mathematical models are approximations of physical systems. The creators of IoTSyn shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from the use of the platform or the generated data.
